I know I have not posted in -- YIKES! -- over a month! Part of that is because of my perfectionistic tendencies--if I can't do "it" (whatever "it" is) perfectly, I tend to not want to do it. I'm trying hard to get over this, because as you can see by the long time between blog entries, sometimes it prevents me from doing anything at all.
Tim and the kids are working very hard to get ready for the cattle sale, which is the weekend before Thanksgiving. There are several people helping them. Today I was going to go to town and get sandwich stuff, and make sandwiches for them for lunch. Tim encouraged me to just get pizza, saying it would be easier for me and probably cost about the same. At first, that went against my grain . . . "I" wanted to "make" something for them to eat!
But then I thought about it. It's Sunday, and I wanted some time to relax! No one would truly notice if I "made" lunch or just picked it up. They would just be glad to eat! So I took his suggestion and got pizza. They loved it just as much as they would have liked sandwiches . . . and I'm sure that between now and the sale I'll have plenty of opportunities to actually "make" something for them to eat.
Since I was on a roll of doing things "good enough," I decided to make cookies for the guys (and girls) for an afternoon snack. I thought (very briefly) about making them from scratch . . . but when I was at the grocery store I found already mixed dough on sale, so decided to use that. Everyone LOVED the cookies . . . and I joked that the recipe was from my favorite Aunt Betty . . . Crocker, that is!
Now, there are things that need to be done 100%, as perfect as we can do them . . . but analyze what you're going to do . . . and if "good enough" is good enough, save "perfect" for the things that really matter.

You are so right about "good enough" being good enough sometimes. We cannot run ourselves into the ground just to do it perfectly or the way we THINK it should be. I am finding myself cutting corners like that a lot lately, and no one knows the difference or if they notice, they don't care!
