Kids

Now for a "kid" update . . .

Cody and Morgan started school last week. It was kind of hard to see them go . . . it's so nice to have them home during the summer. I know Tim misses them even more in that way as they help at the ranch almost every day during the summer.

But it was also neat to see their excitement--yes, EXCITEMENT!--at going back to school. Cody is a junior, and I know he's looking ahead to finishing high school and (GULP!) going off to college. He very much dreaded going back to school in the school they used to attend, and I'm so thankful he's excited about seeing his friends and learning not only in the classroom, but about "real life" too.

Morgan is a freshman(woman) :-) and she, too, was excited to go back. She picked out her clothes and accessories with all the care I remember from when I went back to school. In the school district the kids transfered to last year, Morgan was in a grade school. She had a very hard time adjusting to the new school and the fall was a tough time for her and for her mom and dad! This year, she knows many of the kids in the high school and is looking forward to her classes, so I'm optimistic it will be a much, much better experience.

It's sobering to realize that our children will only be living at home for a few more years (although I certainly wouldn't want them living here till they were 35!). Tim and I have been their main influence for what, when they were born, seemed like many, many years . . . but now that they're almost grown up, seems to have just flown by. I pray that they learned the "right" lessons from us . . . and that they will carry those values and lessons into their "grown up" life. We have been so very blessed with our children adn I pray that the next few years, while they're still at home (sometimes, anyway) we can continue to teach them positive life lessons.
