That was Morgan's response to my good-bye hug as she left for school a few weeks ago. I guess that's just another sign of her growing up--makeup is more important than a hug. Cody also reluctantly accepts my hugs . . . I think he's learned that it's easier just to accept and hug me back than to fight it . . . he knows I'm going to get a hug before he leaves the house, no matter how long it takes!
A few weeks ago I spent several days with my sister and niece, who is seven years old. In contrast to Cody and Morgan, Logan is more than willing to give her Aunt Shelly LOTS of hugs! And, also in contrast to my own children, Logan was more than excited to sit my ME in the restaurant, hold my hand while we looked around the State Fair, and talk with me about anything I wanted to talk about.
While I'm happy to see my kids grow up, sometimes I really miss those "little kid" moments of getting hugs. Thankfully, Morgan isn't completely done giving me hugs . . . if she doesn't have make-up on.
